چکیده

In this study, we use hierarchical modulation technology to estimate the carrier frequency offset (CFO) caused by the Doppler effect; and hierarchical modulation has been implemented in the orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) system. Different threshold levels have been used to demodulate various bits of the hierarchical modulated symbols and it has the characteristic that the bit error rate (BER) of each set decision levels depends on the CFO extent. Consequently when a receiver signal suffers a CFO effect; this CFO extent can be estimated from its resulting BER curves. Pilot signals have been hierarchically modulated and used as the test signal in the simulation of OFDM system to estimate the CFO effect resulting from the movement of the mobile stations. The simulation result shows that the actual BER is higher than the mathematically analyzed BER for each decision level, which results in the overestimation of the CFO extent.

Effect of Carrier Frequency Offset and Phase Noise on WFMT Systems

This paper presents an analysis of the effect of the carrier frequency offset and phase noise on a performance of Wavelet based Filtered Multi-Tone (WFMT) systems for a general AWGN channel. It is well known that the carrier frequency offset in OFDM System yields to significant degradation of the signal-tonoise ratio (SNR). Below I show that a novel WFMT modulation is less sensitive to the freq...

A technique for Carrier frequency offset estimation in OFDM- based systems for Frequency-Selective Fading Channels

This paper discusses the effects of frequency offset on the performance of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) digital communications. The main problem with frequency offset is that it introduces interference among the multiplicity of carriers in the OFDM signal. The aim of this survey is to investigate Carrier frequency offset estimation method in based OFDM systems. According to...

Channel Estimation and CFO Compensation in OFDM System Using Adaptive Filters in Wavelet Transform Domain

Abstarct In this paper, combination of channel, receiver frequency-dependent IQ imbalance and carrier frequency offset estimation under short cyclic prefix (CP) length are considered in OFDM system. An adaptive algorithm based on the set-membership filtering (SMF) algorithm is used to compensate for these impairments. In short CP length, per-tone equalization (PTEQ) structure is used to avoid i...
